Retailers close across West Logan ahead Cyclone Alfred

West Logan residents are being urged to make final preparations, as supermarkets and local retailers begin to close their doors ahead Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

Both Coles and Woolworths supermarkets – along with other local retailers including cafes, restaurants and banks – will be closing their doors from tomorrow Friday 7 March.

Weekend trading hours for Coles and Woolworths supermarkets are still to be confirmed, and will depend on weather conditions and level of flooding.

Woolworths at Jimboomba Junction, Flagstone, Logan Village and Greenbank will only be open today until 2pm. However, Coles at Jimboomba, Yarrabilba and Flagstone is will still be open until 5pm today Thursday 6 March.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Cyclone Alfred is expected to make landfall somewhere between the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast late Friday and early Saturday morning. The category two system slowed and stalled off the South East Queensland coast overnight, but has since restrengthened and is continues its journey back towards the coast.

Logan City Council have also launched a dedicated webpage to keep residents, businesses and other interested people up to date on how to prepare for Cyclone Alfred. Residents can access this via logan.qld.gov.au/important-information-tropical-cyclone-alfred
